SPORTS OR REMEDIAL MASSAGE

As professionals, we know that massage isn’t a luxury, it's an investment.

We all invest time and money ensuring our cars are running smoothly with a regular service.

Taking care of our bodies is even more important, we've only got the one!

Benefits of Massage Therapy

The benefits of massage therapy are plentiful. With regular massage treatments (fortnightly or monthly), clients have reported fewer aches and pains, increased mobility and flexibility, improved sporting performance, reduced post-exercise muscle soreness and improved injury prevention, the ability to work without discomfort, reduced stress and an improved sense of well-being.

Sports Massage

It doesn't matter whether you’re competing at elite level, socially or simply pursuing your own health and fitness goals, a regular sports massage is the perfect way to aid your recovery, prevent injuries and get the most enjoyment out of exercise.

Sports massages are beneficial for both preventative and restorative purposes. Sports massage therapy utilises free-flowing movements to aid with circulation and increase blood flow, flush muscles of toxins and loosen tight or injured areas. Sports massage is ideal for anybody involved in any sport, not just professionals, and is just as vital ahead of a game as it is afterwards.

Massage for maintaining optimal performance is ideal if you have ramped up training for an upcoming race or event, or if you're regularly hitting the trails or pounding the pavement. It doesn't matter your fitness level, intensity level, type of exercise or the amount of exercise you do, sports massages are incredibly important to ensure your body is working at its optimal best and to deal with any muscle tightness or minor niggles as they occur.

Pre-match/race sports massage aims to prepare the body before engaging in any exerting activity like a major sporting event or upcoming race. A pre-event sports massage will help prepare the muscles by warming up the tissue to ensure good blood supply and optimal performance and identifying and loosening tight areas. Doing this will help to reduce the possibility of getting a sporting injury. Research also shows that pre-workout massage can help reduce blood pressure and increase flexibility, improving your movement and performance.

Recovery sports massage is ideal for optimal recovery. A recovery massage increases blood flow, assists with muscle recovery and aids with injury prevention. Recovery sports massages reduce delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) which causes muscle pain and reduces the range of motion.

After exercise, microscopic muscle tears and lactic acid build up can cause muscle pain and fatigue. The increase in muscle enzymes in the blood after exercise causes damage to the muscle fibres and cell membranes. This damage is responsible for localised pain, tenderness and swelling associated with DOMS. Massage helps prevent DOMS by alleviating pain, relieving muscle tightness and increasing flexibility.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a therapeutic massage technique which aims to relieve muscle tension and treat chronic pain. If you sit for hours every day at your desk or in your car, or you have a job that is physically very demanding, especially if it involves repetitive tasks, areas of your body can become tight or strained due to overload. Our bodies are designed to move, but our lifestyles have become more and more sedentary as the demands of a job and family life increase.

A regular massage assists to keep the soft tissue in our bodies healthy by improving circulation, aiding lymphatic drainage, and restoring normal tone and length to overloaded tissues. By identifying and managing the areas of the body that are under increased or excessive load, a regular massage can help to prevent injuries and reduce or eliminate aches, pains and strains.

Additionally, massage is a form of touch therapy. Touch is an essential part of our emotional and psychological well-being. A massage can be incredibly supportive for our emotional health, especially during times of stress, emotional upheaval or social isolation.
